THIRTEENTH PLACE FOR LOWES IN #GERMANGP QUALIFYING
The 2019 edition of the German Grand Prix has not been so far an easy one for the Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Team:with a not-ideal condition after the crash at Assen – which left him with a sore knee – and a crash in yesterday’s FP2 which halted his progression, Sam Lowes had to take part to Q1 hoping to make it to today’s second qualifying session
The former World Supersport champion did well in setting the quickest time of qualifying one, with a time – 1’23.937secs – that if repeated in Q2 would have allowed him to line up in the middle of the fourth row. Unfortunately, he had to settle for the thirteenth place.
With still the warm-up to do some fine-tuning, Lowes will prepare for the ninth race of the season, which will get underway at 12:20 local time at the Sachsenring – hoping to enter the summer break with a smile on his face.

“We improved compared to yesterday, and this morning we improved the bike set-up while finding a better race pace. The single-lap on this track, however, is quite hard to put together for me. I kept a consistent pace in qualifying, but without finding that one great lap. To have your quickest lap-time match the race pace is surely a good sign for tomorrow. We will be in the battle for the top-eight. I will be up there battling with riders like Navarro and Binder, who shone in qualifying. I know that I can be quick at the end of the race because I’m competitive with the used tyre, so tonight I will have a better sleep compared to last night.”
