TOP-5 QUALIFYING RESULT FOR GONZALEZ IN SACHSENRING
It was another positive Saturday for Manuel Gonzalez at the Sachsenring, as the Spanish rider #18 set the fourth quickest lap in the combined FP classification and therefore earned the direct seed to Q2. He then logged his so-far best lap of the weekend in 1’22.992, which translates in a second row start, fifth place: the feeling is good and he has all the right cards to place for the podium in tomorrow’s race.
Albert Arenas had a more difficult time as he had to go through Q1, and then was unable to put together the perfect lap despite a few “yellow helmets”. He missed the access to Q2 for only two tenths of a second and he will face an uphill battle tomorrow for 26th place on the grid.
5th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18 (1’22.992s)
“It was another solid day for us: we improved a lot in Practice2 with both tyre choices, even with the soft tyre I felt so strong. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to complete a great lap in qualifying as I got stuck in traffic in my last quick-lap attempt. Still, we’re fifth on the grid, which is good, our pace is really strong and I feel we can battle for the win tomorrow!”
26th – ALBERT ARENAS #75 (1’23.595s)
“Today was a disastrous day position-wise: we didn’t have any rear grip in Q1 and couldn’t put a good lap together, despite a few competitive splits. We’ll try to understand how to improve tomorrow as we start way back, but we’ll try to make up as many places as possible.”
