TOP TEN NOT ENOUGH FOR DIGGIA, SEE YOU AT LOMBOK ALEX

Team Gresini MotoGP comes away empty handed from the #IndianGP sprint race despite a Fabio Di Giannantonio on good form, and especially had to face Alex Marquez’s injury during this morning’s Q1.

Three fractured ribs (although they are clean breaks) is the unfortunate outcome of the Spaniard’s crash at turn five, with Alex forced to rest for at least ten days – which means no #JapanGP for him. The idea is to return for the second home GP for the team, on October 12-15 at Lombok.

The day for the number #49 is surely not one to remember: the Italian likely lost access to Q2 for a yellowbflag (the one triggered by Alex’s crash) while he was two tenths quicker than the best lap at the time. In the race he managed to avoid some trouble at the start and despite a good pace he could not finish higher than 10th – a position that does not give points today…

10th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO

“I am angry because we did a good race but this morning we weren’t lucky in qualifying and then I lose so much time on the straight, maybe more than what I earn in the mixed part… we’re competitive but we’re missing something and tomorrow the race will be complicated. Plus the shoulder is not 100% fit, today I chose to race without painkillers and not it hurts a lot…”

ALEX MARQUEZ

“Unfortunately there’s not much to say. It was an unfortunate crash and we paid the consequences for it. I will need to rest for a few days and the goal is to return for the Indonesian GP. It’s a shame that the injury arrived in such a particular time of the year but we’ll do our best to recover and be ready for Lombok.”
