TOP5 FOR BULEGA IN ANDALUSIAN FREE PRACTICE

The #AndaluciaGP has started off in a much better way for Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 who get a lot closer to the top thanks to the fifth-quickest time set by Nicolò Bulega (1’41.735).

The Italian rider, who suffered from the high temperatures of the first race weekend at Jerez, has done well in both of today’s sessions as he finished in the top five in FP1 and among the first ten in FP2, only 0.210secs away from the quickest lap of today.

Edgar Pons’s feeling was also good, with the Spaniard who finished the day in 19th place, which was a step forward compared to last week’s free practice 1 & 2 that he ended in 27th place and with a half a second slower lap-time.

There is still a lot of work to do for both riders ahead of the rising temperatures expected for this Sunday as well, but first for clinching a direct seed to Q2.

5th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 – 1’41.735

“We’re a lot happier. We made some good steps forward especially in the morning, so now we can sleep well and relaxed. We still struggle a lot with temperature changes and there is a lot we still have to work on. There is something we have to do set-up wise, but I’m really positive for this weekend.”

19th – EDGAR PONS #57 – 1’42.218

“We’re satisfied with the work done: we lapped exclusively with used tyres because our focus was towards the race, so obviously the single lap performance wasn’t as good as expected. The race pace is good and more than half a second quicker, so tomorrow we’ll have more tyres in the morning to try and get into Q2 and hopefully put together my best qualifying performance of my career.”
