UP-AND-DOWN FRIDAY FOR NAVARRO AT MISANO
It was a Friday with ups and downs for team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2, with Jorge Navarro able to finish second in the morning’s free practice before crashing twice – once per session.
If the lowside in FP1 came without consequences, the afternoon’s tumble had in fact put an early end to Navarro’s second free practice performance; with an added electronic problem which was a consequence of his turn one crash earlier on, the Spanish rider could only complete a brace of laps.
Navarro’s first day of action for the #SanMarinoGP draws to a close with the eighth-fastest lap-time, courtesy of the morning’s performance (1’38.237secs). Navarro was the only one unable to improve in the second session; despite the lack of track-time, he is only less than half a second away from the top.
Proceedings will continue tomorrow, with FP3 scheduled at 10:55 local time (GMT +2) and followed by qualifying at 15:05.
8th– JORGE NAVARRO #9
“FP1 went really well; we started out with great motivation and finished with a great result. In the afternoon we took to the track with the same set-up but with used tyres: I was pushing and lost the front-end straight away at turn one. This crash cost us a lot of time and in the end we only did a couple of laps to check that everything was fine with the bike – nothing more. We surely need to improve the front-end of the bike, which is where I struggle the most.”
