NAVARRO MAKES PROGRESS ON FIRST DAY IN ARGENTINA
The opening day of action for the Moto2 World Championship has drawn to a close at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, with the middleweight class being the one closing the racing activities for the day. Jorge Navarro completed 45 laps of the 4.8km racetrack as he greatly improved his performance between one session and the other.
The Spanish rider of the Federal Oil Gresini team was almost one second quicker in the afternoon on board his Kalex Honda machine, setting a personal best lap-time of 1’45.365secs; Navarro finished the day in 25th position, slightly more than a second away from the top in what was an ultra-competitive second session.
The work on track will continue tomorrow morning, with Navarro keen on closing the gap with the leaders in the final free practice scheduled at 10:55 local time (GMT-3) before taking on qualifying, which will get underway at 15:05.
25º – JORGE NAVARRO #9
“We had a bit harder time today that we expected: the feeling with the bike is not as bad as it would seem given our position. I can’t seem to be able to get up to speed immediately, but I guess it’s also due to the fact that I’m very new to this category. There are many things I need to learn and this is one of those. I’m sure we will keep improving and with a bit of luck we will be further up in the timesheets.”
