ONE POINT FOR ZACCONE ON HOME TURF AT MISANO

RACE – #SanMarinoGP Strong and contrasting emotions ran through the pit-box of team Gresini Racing Moto2 in this Sunday of racing on the Adriatic coast of Italy. Alessandro Zaccone managed to get back in the top-15, while Filip Salač found himself out of contention due to a coming together with another rider.

The Italian rider #61 started the race from 22nd place on the grid, he picked up the pace lap by lap and he eventually achieved the goal he had set for himself  to score a point in his home race.

It was a Sunday to forget instead for Salač, who fell off his bike on lap four after a coming together with another rider – which made him lose any hope for a comeback race. The Czech rider was transferred to the medical centre after the big highside, but (luckily) nothing major was found: he will be back at Aragon and eager to bounce back.

15th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61

“It was a difficult race at the beginning; I really struggle with fresh tyres on. I was able to bounce back towards the end and I had a good pace. I’m sorry that I end up losing so much ground in the early part of the encounter until the tyre grip decreases, but a point is surely a confidence boost!”

DNF – FILIP SALAČ #12

“It was a difficult race for us: we could have had a great race as we reverted back to the hard tyre option and with that the feeling with the bike came back. Unfortunately after a few laps a coming together with a rival triggered a big highside. Luckily I’m fine, but the body hurts everywhere – I think it may have been the biggest crash of my Moto2 career so far. We were unlucky. I’m instead happy for Zac, who was back in the top-15: this result will surely help him in the next races.”
