#ALGARVEGP: RODRIGO THROUGH PAIN, ALCOBA IMPROVES

The penultimate event of the season for Team Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 began with the return to action of Gabriel Rodrigo: the Argentine rider only completed a few laps after a whole month out of action, but was able to show some good speed (six tenths away from the Q2 direct access). His ability to be competitive on the long run remains under question.

On the other side of thr garage, Jeremy Alcoba worked hard without focusing on the single-lap performance. The Spanish rider knows he can be quick and consistent at the track and he turned his attention on finding his pace with clear track ahead and no slipstreams. The #52 has to find one around one tenth of a second in order to have the best shot at pole position. FP3 will get underway at 9am local time (GMT +1) tomorrow morning.

17th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’49.225)

“Today we decided to lap on our own for the race. We’re far from the top, but there was a lot of win and I struggled without slipstream. This was especially true when the others have improved a lot while we only improved by a few hundredths. This is a circuit that I like and where we do well so we’ll give it all tomorrow to get into Q2 from the main door.

23rd – GABRI RODRIGO #2 (1’49.604)

“I feel better than I thought, but we’re far from top condition. I’m a bit worried for the long run because after three/four laps the pain and the lack of strength were there. We hope we can improve day by day. The positive thing is that, despite the few laps and without the time-attack tyres on, we were six tenths away from Q2.”
