ARAGON WINTER VERSION AS TEAM KÖMMERLING ENJOYS OK FRIDAY
Strong wind and low temperatures characterised the first day of practice of the #AragonGP, especially in the morning when the Moto3 class riders – which took to the track first – struggled to find pace on a slippery and challenging track.
Things went better in the afternoon with Gabriel Rodrigo and Jeremy Alcoba 13th and 16th, respectively, in the combined times of today’s two free practice sessions. The Argentine – despite a crash – was able to show a good pace while lapping on his own (low 2’00secs) and in the final moments, even though the feeling with the bike was not ideal, was able to make it (temporarily) in the group of the riders which will potentially be seeded to Q2.
Jeremy Alcoba’s 1’59.346secs time was good news: the gap with the top-14 is minimal (a matter of milliseconds) and despite the hand not being 100% he managed to be competitive. The #52 rider will try to get direct access to Q2 during tomorrow’s FP3, which will get underway at 9:30 local time (GMT +2) following the new timetable for the GP.
13th – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (1’59.192)
“It was a positive day despite the track being very challenging due to the low temperatures. In the afternoon things went a lot better: I lapped on my own and had a great pace until the crash happened, which slowed down our work a bit. We wanted to try some adjustments and in the second outing – with new tyres – I wasn’t feeling perfect and therefore I couldn’t make the most of the last part of the session. Results aside, I’m very happy with this Friday.”
16th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’59.346)
“It’s always better to end the Friday in the ‘Q2’ group, but I must say I’m happy because I thought I could barely put the hand inside the glow. I’m riding as if I’m drinking a cup of tea – with the pinky pointing always a little upwards (he laughs). We can be with the fastest riders, but so far the wind and the cold have slowed us down a bit but we’re still three tenths away from the top ten.”
