POSITIVE FIRST OUTING OF THE SEASON FOR TEAM KÖMMERLING GRESINI MOTO3
Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo Circuit hosted the first outing of Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3. The team, who got to the track on Monday already, spent the first two days to put together the bikes before the test itself got underway.
Both Gabriel Rodrigo and Jeremy Alcoba took advantage of favourable weather conditions (14-15°C during the two days) to complete a significant number of laps and find the right feeling aboard the Kömmerling–liveried Honda NSF250RW machines.
The Argentine rider, who has switched to #2 for the season (instead of #19), showed a very good fitness form and the desire to stay out on track as much as possible with a bike that is very similar to the 2019 model, despite some setting adjustments to be fine-tuned.
For Alcoba this was more of a shakedown ride, in which the Spaniard was able to consolidate his relationship with crew chief Ivano Mancurti and the whole team – and get some confidence back with the Honda.
The next on-track activity for the team will be in Jerez de la Frontera on February 10-11, just before the official team presentation, which will take place at the Circuit of Imola on Saturday 15 February.
GABRIEL RODRIGO #2
“It was a good first test! We were coming from a winter break in which we worked hard to recover from last year’s injuries, and these two days confirmed the good work done. The feeling with the bike is good: we worked hard, lapped consistently and gathered some important data. There is still a lot of track time before the start of the season and I think we’re heading in the right direction.”
JEREMY ALCOBA #52
“It was kind of a weird feeling to get back on the bike. After many days without, you almost feel incapable of doing it again. With the team I feel incredibly well, we are working hard but with a steady and relaxed approached: Qatar is still far away and that’s the only thing that matters, so we will need to stay focused and take it step by step while trying to find a better feeling with the Honda and leaving the KTM riding style behind.”
