A TUMBLE HALTS NAVARRO’S PROGRESSION AT LE MANS

It was not an easy day today for team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 and their rider Jorge Navarro, who crashed unhurt during free practice 2 today at Le Mans in France, where the fifth Grand Prix of the 2017 Moto2 World Championship is currently taking place.

With the weather not playing in favour of Moto2 riders and teams, Navarro struggled to find a good set-up for his Kalex Honda; during free practice two, the 21-year-old Spaniard fell off his bike at turn nine while trying the hard rear-tyre option.

Despite escaping uninjured from the crash, Navarro lost the majority of the afternoon session, which saw much better track conditions compared to the morning hour of action. Jorge and the team will basically have to start from scratch tomorrow, as they will tackle free practice 3 at 10:55 local time (GMT +2) before entering qualifying at 15:05.

JORGE NAVARRO #9

“Today was a fairly difficult day: this morning I could not find a good feeling with the bike and, despite the adjustments made, I wasn’t comfortable on it. This afternoon, on wet conditions, things were starting to improve. We tried something at the rear-end of the bike in order to improve the grip mid-turn, but on my second outing I made a mistake and crashed. It’s a shame, because with improving conditions many riders were able to lap faster, which means we’re a bit behind now. We need to reset now and start over.
