FERRARI AND MANTOVANI READY FOR CATALAN DEBUT
The third event of the season is around the corner for the Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE who, after the rounds in Jerez de la Frontera and Le Mans, will now head to Montmeló (Barcelona) for a completely new challenge. The electric class of MotoGP has never raced at the Catalan racetrack, something that can be taken advantage of by the two standard bearers of the team.
If Matteo Ferrari has shown before that he could adapt very quickly to every type of circuit with this bike, Andrea Mantovani will be for once in the same position as his opponents in the class. The Italian rider #9 has to make amends for a French Grand Prix to forget as he crashed during the warm up just before the start of the race, while the 2019 World Cup champion will have another chance to shine after two sub-par performances.
MATTEO FERRARI #11 (6th in the championship standings with 18 points)
“We’re ready for this new challenge. We’re aware that the first couple of races were a bit uphill for us, but also know that we made steps forward in terms of speed and performance with the bike. The goal this weekend is to stay consistently in the top five already from Friday, with an eye to the podium that we have been missing for too long. Obviously the ultimate goal is to win, but the first step is necessarily the top three. The team is working well and we know we’re on an upward path. We can and we must find back that feeling.”
ANDREA MANTOVANI #9 (12th in the championship standings with 8 points)
“It’s from the 125cc times that I haven’t raced in Barcelona! It will surely be a nice experience on a track that I have to rediscover, especially at turn 10 as it will be completely new! I hope I can do a good job like I did in France and to capitalise with a race in which I can express all my potential. Im away there is still a lot more to learn and to understand from such a different motorcycle.”
