CHALLENGING START FOR SALAČ, ZACCONE IMPROVES

Free Practice – #AragonGP The opening day of free practice has drawn to a close for team Gresini Racing Moto2 with Filip Salač currently one tenth away from the group of riders that can get a direct seed to Q2. The rider #12 struggled to get up to speed in FP1 due to the lack of grip on the asphalt of the MotorLand Aragón track and its complexity layout-wise. He still managed to log a good time towards the end of FP2, but he will keep working with the team on the rear-end grip of his Kalex machine ahead of tomorrow’s Free Practice 3 in order to get direct access to Qualifying 2. The same goal applies to Alessandro Zaccone: the Italian rider, who already had success here in the Junior championships, made the most of the first free practice session to complete as many laps as possible and get closer to the rhythm of the front runners. A modification done to his bike in the afternoon allowed him to improve by three tenths of a second, but that was enough: the Kalex #61 is currently out of the top 14 in the combined, free-practice times for less than five tenths of a second.

16th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’53.834)

“It was a first challenging day here at Aragon: it’s a difficult track and there’s very little grip. During FP2, we lost time trying to solve an issue with the front brake. Fortunately I was able to set a good time towards the end of FP2; the feeling was good, but we still have to sort out the bike set-up to have better grip at the rear-end.”

21st – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’54.311)

“After a first positive – but not excellent – first session, we decided to make a big change to the set-up that allowed us to make a step forward. I must still adapt 100% to it and this new set-up, but the feeling is good and I’m sure it’ll lead to good results. Now we’ll work some more ahead of tomorrow, with the goal of improving further.”
