MANDALIKA: A COMEBACK RACE

RACE – #IndonesianGP The second Moto2 race of the season was a sprint one at the Mandalika International Circuit, as race direction opted to reduce the length of the encounter from 25 to 16 laps due to the high temperatures of the asphalt. Despite the change, the goal of Team Gresini Racing Moto2 riders remained the same: to recover as many positions as possible.

Filip Salač, who started his encounter from row 8, struggled to find the feeling with the front-end of his bike. Despite being a challenging race, the Czech rider #12 managed to learn a lot as he tried to adapt his riding style to the bike. After what was a difficult weekend, it was key for him to finish the race.

Alessandro Zaccone also managed to make up some places from the 29th spot of the grid, as was 24th at the checkered flag. After a big set-up change to his Kalex machine during warm up, the rider #61 still needs more track-time to improve his feeling – and performance – with the Moto2 machine.

21st – FILIP SALAČ #12

“It was quite a touch race, especially due to the lack of feeling with the front-end. Our goal was to try and finish the race, so I tried to make as much experience as possible in every lap while trying to improve my riding style. We didn’t manage to secure a good result in the end, but after such a difficult weekend I think making it to the checkered flag is already a good one in itself.”

24th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61

“We made a big set-up change during warm up which allowed to fix some issues, although at the same time it led to new ones so that means that we’re still far from the perfect set-up. We knew we wouldn’t have been at our best in the race but we still managed to recover some positions – and especially to gather a good amount of data ahead of the next races.”
