FIFTH PLACE FOR FERRARI IN QUALIFYING ON HOME TURF
Qualifying – #SanMarinoGP The opening day of action at the Misano World Circuit got underway with the typical 2022 format – two free practice sessions followed by qualifying. For the standard bearers of team FELO Gresini Racing MotoE, it was a Friday full of excitement as both were eager to take to the track in front of the home crowd. Matteo Ferrari started off on the right foot by well performing in the two free practice sessions as he secured the direct seed to Q2 courtesy of a third place in the combined classification of FP1 and FP2. He will start tomorrow’s race (as well as Sunday’s) from the second row of the grid thanks to the fifth-quickest time in qualifying.
Alessio Finello was back in action today after the right-foot injury sustained in free practice at the Red Bull Ring a fortnight ago. Despite having to rider through the pain, he still managed to complete the first day of action and steadily improved throughout the day. He will start the two final races of the season from 17th place on the grid. Race one will get underway tomorrow at 16:25 local time (GMT +2).
5th – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’43.652)
“I’m happy with the session: we improved both on the single lap and our race pace, which is something very important ahead of tomorrow. I still have to improve in the T4, but we’re close in the remaining sector so I’m confident, I feel good. We’re starting from the second row and aiming at a strong result in the race!”

“Today wasn’t easy, but I was expecting that. I used the first session to regain confidence aboard the bike, as I last rode it in free practice in Austria. We improved a lot and I was able to be 0.8secs faster in qualifying, so I’m getting closer to the other riders. I’m struggling when putting weight on my foot but I’m confident about tomorrow, the goal is to keep improving and stay with the second group.”
