SIXTH-PLACED SALAČ WITH ONE FOOT IN Q2

Free Practice – #ItalianGP With the sun shining over the Tuscan hills, the first two free practice sessions for Moto2 took place today at the Mugello Circuit, with Filip Salač logging his so-far personal best lap-time during FP1 already, and by doing so placing himself provisionally in the Q2-lot. Alessandro Zaccone managed to improve his time by 1.3secs between the two sessions after some modifications to the bike.

The strategy of using a soft tyre and go for the time attack already in the first session was a successful one for Salač, who clocked a 1’52.470secs time which gave him the sixth place in the combined FP times for today: the high afternoon temperatures prevented him from improving in FP2.

Zaccone made the most of the first session to lap on his own, in order to get the proper braking marks and find the best lines around the track. A set-up modification to his bike allowed him then to improve and set a new personal best lap-time. The good feeling achieved in FP2 is a great boost of confidence for the rider #61 who tomorrow, with the lower morning temperatures, will try to exploit the session and access directly to Q2.

6th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’52.470)

“Finally a positive day: after setting a good lap-time this morning, in the second session we try to use again the same of tyre. We did a total of 21 laps and the feeling is good. The goal for tomorrow is to stay in the Q2 lot.”

28th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’53.763)

“I’m very happy with my second session: we made a modification to the front-end that allowed us to make a step forward. The changes were very beneficial and lap after lap I was able to perform better. The margin for improvement is still bit, also because the track this afternoon was very hot. We have two tires for tomorrow: we will make the most of it for another step!”
