SILVERSTONE CALLS, LOPEZ RETURNS
After a three-week summer break, the ITALJET GRESINI Moto2 Team is ready to get back on track with its original line-up. Alonso Lopez is set to make his comeback after missing the last three rounds due to a right-hand injury. Following surgery and an intensive rehabilitation programme, the Spaniard is finally ready to get back on his Moto2 bike. He will still need to receive the final clearance from the Medical Inspection on Thursday, but rider #21 is confident he is ready to take on this weekend and return to being one of the benchmark riders in the intermediate class.
The summer break was also an important opportunity for Sergio Garcia, who trained hard and regained the right motivation ahead of the second half of the season as he looks to turn things around. With both riders back in the garage, the Faenza-based squad is ready to hit the track at one of the fastest circuits on the 2026 calendar.
ALONSO LOPEZ #21
“I’m really happy to finally be back on track. Last week I rode a bike again and I felt really good. Maybe I won’t be at my 100% yet, considering I had to stay off the bike for a couple of weeks, but I’m very close. I can’t wait to get back on my Moto2 bike and start working with my team again. I also really like Silverstone, and the fast changes of direction that are characteristic of this circuit are where we’ve been strongest this year, so I’m feeling confident. Before the injury we were doing a really good job, so now we just need to pick up where we left off and make the final step.”
SERGIO GARCIA #3
“Silverstone is a circuit I really like, but the unpredictable weather could play a big role. During the summer break I trained really hard, so I think we can have a good pace. My motivation is higher than ever, we can have a good race and finally put together a strong weekend. I can’t wait!”
