SIXTH PLACE FOR FERRARI IN BARCELONA QUALIFYING

It was a bittersweet day for Matteo Ferrari who, thanks to the second place in the combined practice classification, earned the direct access to Q2 courtesy of a 1’49.356secs lap-time. Then the Italian had a challenging qualifying as he struggled to put together a competitive lap-time. With a 1’49.104 set only during his fifth attempt due to a plethora of yellow flags, he only secured a second-row start for tomorrow’s two races. The goal will be to not lose touch with his title rivals.

Alessio Finello, who was fifteenth in the combined times of today’s free practice, found himself in Q1 where he managed to improve his lap-time up to a 1’49.877. He will start tomorrow’s encounters from thirteenth place on the grid, ready to battle for the top ten. The weather may also play a significant part tomorrow.

6th  – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’49.104)

“I am not too happy with this qualifying; we went the wrong way with the setup as we made a modification that didn’t help us and ruined the outcome of our quick lap attempt. Then the two yellow flags surely didn’t help us, but I still tried to give my best and we’re still on row two tomorrow. We’ll try to analyze the data as best as we can but we already know which direction to take. Our rivals will be on pole and second place tomorrow but our race pace is strong and we’ll play our part in it tomorrow.”

13th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (1’49.877)

“Quite happy with the steps forward made today up to qualifying. Thirteenth on the grid is not bad considering also the lap time: the races will be hard fought and challenging and we’ll have to be confident and aggressive at the beginning in order to take home a good result. We’re working well and we deserve a good Saturday!”
