CHALLENGING FRIDAY FOR ALCOBA AND SALAČ IN AUSTRALIA

In what was, to say the least, a spectacular day at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, the 16th event of the season got underway for Team QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2. There were not many highlights, however, on day one in the light-blue panelled pit-box, with Jeremy Alcobaand Filip Salač so far quite distant from the top of the timesheets.

The combined classification, which will only be definitive tomorrow after FP3, currently sees the Spaniard in 18th place and the Czech rider all the way down in 24th position. If it is undeniable that the gap from the leaders is quite ample, only a few tenths of a second would be enough to secure the direct seed to Q2.

Tomorrow from 9:25am local time (GMT +9), FP3 will be the opportunity to make amends for a Friday that holds nothing to remember.

18th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’34.055s)

“I like the track and last year we did well here. This morning we were in the top ten but I wasn’t fully happy aboard the bike. I was hoping to find something for Free Practice 2 but it didn’t go this way, weren’t able to improve. It was a quite difficult afternoon session, so now we’ll try to make sure we’re more competitive tomorrow.”

24th – FILIP SALAC #12 (1’34.397s)

“It was a difficult day. A crash in FP1 (turn four) prevented me from completing the number of laps I needed with the soft tyre. I did my best in FP2 but it wasn’t enough: we’re losing some grip at the rear-end and we’ll need to work on it.”
