ZACCONE 22nd, SALAĆ 23rd IN GLOOMY MUGELLO QUALIFYING

Qualifying – #ItalianGP Team Gresini Racing Moto2 has completed a challenging second day of action at the Mugello International Circuit, which was marked by a few drops of rain and threatening grey cloud all above the track. But said challenge had begun already in the morning session – when the sun was shining – as neither rider was able to log a lap-time that was quick enough for a direct admission to Q2.

Despite the result, Alessandro Zaccone managed to make a further step forward. The Moto2 rider will line up in the eighth row of the grid, and in each session tackled so far he was able to improve his performance. He is now looking forward to racing in front of his home crowd for the first time since joining the middleweight class of MotoGP. Filip Salač will line up alongside him: despite a good feeling with the bike, the Kalex rider could not put together a solid lap-time. From 23rd place on the grid, he will spearhead his comeback from 12:20 local time (GMT +2).

22nd – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’52.438)

“I’m happy because we managed to make another step forward in qualifying, too. We would have needed some more laps, but we’ll keep working for the race – which we’re still unsure if it’ll place in dry or wet conditions. But we’ll have fun tomorrow!”

23rd – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’52.451)

“It’s been a complicated day: the feeling with the bike was good – and so was the pace – but it wasn’t enough to get into Q2. We will try to make a difference tomorrow in the race.”
