#CZECHGP: ANOTHER DIFFICULT FRIDAY FOR MARTIN

A bit more than a year ago, a crash and a subsequent leg injury at Sachsenring had caused a huge setback for what was – until then – a great season for Jorge Martin. Unfortunately for him, history repeated itself at Brno today, as the Spaniard lost the front-end of his Honda machine during free practice and, as he landed on his left hand, he suffered a fracture in his left radius bone – which put an early end to his Czech Grand Prix.

The current Moto3 leader will fly back to Barcelona today and will undergo surgery tomorrow morning, and then evaluate if a miraculous return to action in seven days at Spielberg will be possible.

Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3’s colours will still be defended byFabio Di Giannantonio, who was among the protagonists of today’s free practice sessions, as he led a bit during FP2 before finishing sixth with a two-tenth gap from the top of the timesheets.

6th– FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“This morning I felt good on the bike straight away. After the summer break, we were eager to see where we were in terms of performance and I must say we haven’t made too many changes to the set-up – which was already good. We started on the right foot and were working on something new Honda brought and that we still have to fine tune – which could technically help us on sectors 3 and 4 where I struggle a bit more.”

8th– JORGE MARTIN #88

“What can I say… we were doing great in free practice, we tried both tyre compounds and when I had the medium tyre on my riding was flawless. Then, unfortunately, I lost the front-end a bit on corner exit and I crashed while opening the throttle. It was not a big crash, but the landing on the hand was heavy. Now we need to focus on tomorrow’s surgery and see if it’s possible to return in Austria.”
