A SUNDAY TO FORGET FOR TEAM FEDERAL OIL GRESINI MOTO2

Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 had a poor outcome in the first of two Austrian events with no points and only one rider able to see the chequered flag.

The good news is surely about Edgar Pons, who escaped uninjured from a crash that could have been quite worse for the Spaniard: while exiting turn one at the start of lap four he was able to avoid collision with Bastianini, but a coming together with a tyre thrown in the air by Syahrin’s crash made him end up in the gravel. A mild hit on his left wrist was all, meaning no serious consequence for the rider #57 who will indeed tackle the Grand Prix of Styria next weekend.

No glory either for Nicolò Bulega who was only 16th in a sprint race of 16 laps (13+3) in which the top ten seemed to be within reach after gthe great pace shown yesterday during FP3.

16th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11

“We tried, but this wasn’t our day. We surely miss a big of luck if I think of the Q2 missed due to the cancelled lap, but our race goals must be higher. Today we struggled and the race interruption didn’t help. We need to keep our heads down and be competitive here next weekend.”

DNF EDGAR PONS #57

“Coming out of that turn you don’t see what’s ahead of you. I managed to avoid Enea’s bike by diving on the left, but the debris from the accident made me crash and had to jump off the bike to avoid hitting the wall. Fortunately I sustained no injury but its a shame because those extra laps would have surely helped for the upcoming weekend. We must stay positive as it could have been a lot worse today so it’s good this way.”
