Home front row for Bastianini at Misano. Di Giannantonio on fourth row

Gresini Racing Team Moto3 racer Enea Bastianini will start from the front row of the grid in tomorrow’s Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera di Rimini at Misano. The 18-year-old rider from Rimini set the second fastest time at the end of a Qualifying session complicated by heavy traffic, especially in the final stages; however, this has not prevented Enea to achieve his sixth consecutive front row start with a nice lap in 1’42”548, clocked just at the end of the session.

The other rider of the Gresini Racing Team Moto3, Fabio Di Giannantonio, will start instead from the fourth row with the tenth fastest time, 1’43”033: a good performance for the 17-year-old rookie from Rome, confident for the race which will kick off tomorrow at 11.00 am.

ENEA BASTIANINI (2nd – 1’42”548)

“I’m really happy! This morning I was less optimistic, because many riders took a step forward and especially Binder showed a very good race pace. In the afternoon, however, we worked hard to try to conquer the pole position or at least the front row; in the end we got second place and we are satisfied. I did my best lap just behind Binder and I saw that he could open a little gap: there I realized that I was probably missing the pole position. We still have some good chances for tomorrow: our pace is good and we can still improve, because at the moment I’m still struggling on corner exit. Tomorrow morning we will work on this issue to try to fight for the victory in the race”.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO (10th – 1’43”033)

“Honestly, I’m pleased with how it went, we put in a nice lap! In the first of the three Qualifying runs we didn’t get a good lap time, because we still had to fix a few things on the bike and we used old tyres. In the second run we fitted new tyres, improving, then in the final attempt it was definitely not easy with traffic. However, we are confident for the race tomorrow: our start position is still not too bad, we are in the fourth row, and we are constantly improving the bike, so I believe we can do well”.

FAUSTO GRESINI

“So far we have done a good job: since the beginning of the weekend Enea has always been fast and competitive, so tomorrow we expect to see a good race from him. Fabio closed the Qualifying a little bit behind, and certainly he couldn’t set the time he wanted and could get, but the race is another story and we know that he will be in the game too. I’m happy, now we remain focused for the race because we want to give a good show to our guests and to the public”.
