SUPERB PODIUM FOR DI GIANNANTONIO AT TERMAS DE RIO HONDO

Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 is proving to be consistently on podium form: after Martin’s win in Qatar, it was Fabio Di Giannantonio who stepped on the lower step of the rostrum in Argentina at the end of a race that was characterised by mixed and surely not easy track conditions.

Starting from row two, Di Giannantonio quickly moved up towards the front and successfully managed to not let the leaders pull away at the beginning. With Bezzecchi running away, the #21 had to battle first with Canet and then with Masia (who had a crash after a collision with the Italian) to earn his first podium of the season and jump up near the top of the championship standings with 26 points.

It was an interesting race for Jorge Martin, who bravely chose after warm-up to get back to the pits to change tyres in order to start the race with slicks – albeit from the back of the grid. The strategy, however, did not pay off because despite a streak of quick laps, the Spaniard was only 11th at the flag (after recovering 17 positions) while scoring some important points for the title race.

After two rounds, Martin and Diggia are currently second and fourth, respectively, with only four points between them, while Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 remain on top of the team standings with 56 points.

3th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“I’m only half happy, because we could have done a bit better. The goal was to push hard straight from the get-go, because just like Bezzecchi we were on ‘wet’ tyres, but I lost a little touch with him. I play my cards best, but things were a bit chaotic in the pack and things went how they went and Masia’s touch was kind of expectable… During the last lap, I did all my best to catch Canet, but it didn’t work. It’s good anyway; step by step we’ll get there.”

11th – JORGE MARTIN #88

“It’s been a complicated day. We chose to change tyres on the pit-lane and we lost a lot of time, but we were competitive and so I managed to recover many positions. If we chose the slicks on the grid I would have probably won with a big margin but these things happen. We won’t get it wrong in Austin.”
