Halfway Mark Of The Season Beckons In Germany For Gresini Racing Team Moto3

Gresini Racing Team Moto3 racers Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio are ready to face this weekend the race that marks the halfway point of the 2016 Moto3 World Championship: the German Grand Prix. Theatre of the challenge will be the characteristic Sachsenring circuit, the shortest on the calendar with its 3,671 metres, with 10 left-hand corners and just 3 right-handers.

After the excellent performance shown in the Netherlands, with Fabio Di Giannantonio second and Enea Bastianini forced to retire after a contact while he was also fighting for the win in the leading group, the team’s stated goal is to be on top once again with both riders on a track that would indicate another very closely contested race.

ENEA BASTIANINI
“In Germany we will face a very technical track, which in a first analysis may seem easy, but it’s not at all… Last year I had a good race, even if I couldn’t stay with the first two riders in the lead, Kent and Vazquez, who had opened a gap. This year we arrive at the Sachsenring convinced that we can do very well: we found a good base set-up, which is allowing us to be fast. Obviously we need work hard and start off the weekend on the right foot, but I’m confident”.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
“Sachsenring is a track I really like and I know very well: I’ve been racing there over the past two seasons with the Red Bull Rookies Cup, getting my first win in 2015. It’s also a track with a lot of left-hand corners, which are my favourites. Therefore, we arrive in Germany with the aim to improve ourselves, as always: despite the excellent results achieved recently, we want to keep our feet firmly on the ground and not think too much to the podium. In the second half of the season, starting from this Grand Prix, our goal will always remain the same, that’s enter the top ten”.

FAUSTO GRESINI
“We head to a very twisty and nice track, on which we will definitely try to continue the positive trend of the last races: we found a good base set-up, therefore also in Germany both our riders can be competitive. It should be said that Di Giannantonio has little experience, so this doesn’t mean that we expect something from him: so far he has already done more than we expected. As for Bastianini, we know that Enea has always been competitive on this track: last year he made a great comeback, so we are optimistic. After quite a long break we are pleased to be back on track and we are ready to fight!”.
