MARTIN TAKES FIFTH POLE POSITION OF THE YEAR DI MARTIN

On the second of June of this year, Jorge Martinequalled Alex Rins as the rider with the highest number of pole positions in Moto3 – 13. Today at Assen, not even a month later, the rider #88 of Team Del Conca Gresiniis now the sole record holder with again another incredible achievement on the single lap.

The 1’42.039 he logged today during #DutchGP qualifying allowed the Spanish rider to claim his fifth pole position of the season and the fourteenth of his career – all achieved with Gresini – in a weekend that got more complicated following the crash in FP2 yesterday – in which Martin badly bruised his foot.

Fabio Di Giannantoniowill line up on row three – 7thspot – a positive result if we take into consideration this morning’s crash, which cut his FP3 performance very short. Team Del Conca Gresini will begin their attack on a possible fourth win of the season from 11:00 local time (GMT +2).

1º – JORGE MARTIN #88

“First of all I would like to thank the guys at clinica mobile who helped me a lot with the foot problem – which is getting better every single lap. We worked well with the team and the bike set-up was excellent: we completed a lot of laps today and found a result that gives us great hopes for tomorrow. We know Bastianini and Canet are strong and have a great pace, so we’ll try to stay with them.”

7º – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“It has been a day in crescendo: this morning we crashed out after two laps and destroyed the bike, so we couldn’t ride until qualifying. In any case, we were able to set some good lap-times and, if one of these I did turn 11 better, I would be in a better position on the grid. Third row is a good result nevertheless, given how little we lapped today. We will find the pace tomorrow, I’m sure.”
