MARTIN DOMINATES HIS WAY TO SIXTH WIN OF 2018 AT ARAGON

Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 comes out victorious from the 14th event of the 2018 MotoGP World Championship courtesy of a superb performance by Jorge Martin, who led from start to finish a race he started from pole position.

The race day began with the 12-grid-position penalty inflicted to Bezzecchi and Bastianini among other riders for irresponsible ride. This shake to the grid turned out to be a perfect opportunity for the number 88, who puts together an outstanding performance speed and race-craft wise to score 25 crucial points and to extend his lead on Bezzecchi – who was second today – to 12 points, while Fabio Di Giannantonio is now 41 points behind his team mate.

The Italian, who was promoted to the second row by the aforementioned penalties, has been among the leading protagonists of the race by being part of the group chasing Martin for the whole race and battling for the podium up to the finish line. The 13points claimed today are very important, but left a bitter taste in Fabio’s mouth given the missed podium – although with five events left he is still well in the title race.

The MotoGP World Championship will now enjoy a weekend break before debuting at the Buriram International Circuit in Thailand.

1st– JORGE MARTIN #88

“It has been a very long race but I knew I had a good pace on my side. Bezzecchi and Enea were starting from way back but I was sure they would have returned to the front. Fortunately when they got there I already had a gap of four seconds on them. 13 points with five races left are almost nothing but everything helps. The key to the win were the first four-five very quick laps at the start.”

4th– FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“I’m not too happy because the team and I did our best and to be finishing fourth was not the goal we had set. The long straights at this track have penalised us a bit and I would have loved to finish the race in a different way. Let’s stay positive, though, and look forward to Thailand.”
