NAVARRO STARTS MALAYSIAN GP ON THE RIGHT FOOT

Jorge Navarro made his Moto2 debut at the Sepang International Circuit today after sitting out the 2017 edition of the Malaysian GP due to an injury suffered in Phillip Island – which had forced the Spaniard to an early return to Spain last year.

The Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 rider made the most of today’s two free practice sessions by completing more than 30 laps and finishing with the 12th fastest time of the day (2’07.808secs) – less than nine tenths of a second away from Marquez’s quickest lap of the day.

Navarro claimed a good feeling with his Kalex machine in his quest to find the best set-up for the fast and flowing Asian track. The goal for FP3 is to improve some more ahead of the penultimate qualifying session of the season, which will get underway tomorrow at 13:30 local time (GMT+8), straight after the quarter-litre class QP.

12th– JORGE NAVARRO #9

“I’m quite happy, because we started on the right foot. The feeling with the bike is very good, especially because this is my first time here on a Moto2 bike. Obviously, there are things we need to try and there are some areas to improve, but the feeling with my Kalex machine left a good taste in my mouth and I know we can do good things tomorrow. We need to keep our heads down and work as hard as we can.”
