ANOTHER FRONT ROW FOR MARTIN AS DIGGIA QUALIFIES IN FOURTH PLACE AT MISANO

Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3’s riders Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio continue to shine at the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix – the thirteenth event of the 2017 MotoGP World Championship. After dominating yesterday’s free practice, both rider did well today by qualifying second (Martin) and fourth (Di Giannantonio).

The young Spaniard from Madrid lost the chance for what would have been his sixth pole position of the season as he got held up by two riders on his final attempt before the chequered flag. Despite the setback, he was only 0.173secs shy of Bastianini’s pole time. Martin will nevertheless start tomorrow’s race from the front row, with the goal to pull away and try to win the race.

Di Giannantonio was the first one to set the new record lap of the track (1’42.391) on the way to a fourth-place finish. Despite being unable to make the most of the last set of fresh tyres, “Diggia” was only 19 thousandths of a second away from the front row.

Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 will try to score the first win of the season in the 23-lap race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, which will get underway at 11:00 local time (GMT +2).

2nd – JORGE MARTIN #88

“It has been a positive qualifying even though I could have done better, but two riders slowed me down on the last attempt. We even did 24 laps in a row with very consistent lap-times, so we’re more than ready to race. I feel strong and I think we can do well tomorrow. Pole position was within our reach, but starting from second place is also very good, especially if it’s going to rain. I hope it won’t happen, because the last time I rode in the wet was in Brno and my feeling wasn’t the best.”

4th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“I’m really happy with how this weekend has been going so far: the feeling is that we can improve in each outing and that’s a very positive thing. It’s not a coincidence that I set my fastest-ever lap-time here today and even this morning we had a really good pace. Weather forecast don’t look very good for tomorrow, but we will try to race at the front in any case.”
