A SATURDAY TO FORGET FOR LOWES IN FRANCE
The up-and-down weekend continues for Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2and their standard bearer Sam Lowes. After well-performing in FP1 and then tumbling down yesterday afternoon, the script was more or less the same, with the Briton among the fastest on the wet this morning and then surprisingly off the pace in the #FrenchGP Q1.
The former World Supersport champion ended up all the way down in 26thplace after suffering from poor grip aboard his Kalex machine. Together with the team, Lowes will try to understand what happened and try to find a solution in a very short time in order to put together a desperate comeback in the race.
Tomorrow morning’s warm up will therefore be crucial, with the experienced Englishman hoping for more stable weather conditions in what is the fifth Grand Prix of the year.
26th– SAM LOWES #22
This morning we were fast and consistent and always near the front on the wet. I didn’t put any slick on, but I was feeling really good in these conditions. Something clearly changed in the afternoon, though: I was confident because we were very fast in the wet, but the feeling with the bike was completely different. I had no grip and couldn’t ride at all, so we need to understand what happened. If you don’t get it right in Q1 at the very beginning, then it’s hard to move forward. Tomorrow is another day and we’re starting from way back in the grid. We will work for both track conditions and see how it goes.
