#SANMARINOGP: MARTIN TOPS FRIDAY’S PRACTICE

The last time Moto3 riders were out for more than 15 minutes, Jorge Martinclaimed pole position at Silverstone. Today, the rider of Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3set the quickest time of today’s two free practice sessions at Misano, where the 13thevent of the 2018 MotoGP World Championship has begun.

The #88 has one clear goal in mind, especially now that he has recovered some of the mobility in his recently-operataed wrist, and that is to make up ground from championship leader Bezzecchi. His 1’42.324secs lap-time was two tenths of a second faster than the one set by his main opponent for the title.

Speaking of title contenders, Fabio Di Giannantoniois a bit further down in the championship ater finishing 13th with a personal best lap-time of 1’43.472secs. The Italian rider is trying to solve some issues experienced in sectors two and three, especially under braking at “Tramonto” and “Quercia” corners.

Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3will return to the track tomorrow at 9am local time (GMT +2) for the final free practice of the weekend, before spearheading their attack on pole position from 12:35.

1st– JORGE MARTIN #21

“First of all, I would like to say that the hand feels a lot better than Silverstone, even though there’s still a bit of pain especially on left-hand corners and under braking. In the afternoon session I took no pain-killer and we were quick anyway, so the hope is that the wrist condition will keep improving session after session. We worked hard with used tyres and tried to find the best grip on the rear-end of the bike. At the front-end we’re good, so we will keep working on the longer distance tomorrow.”

13th– FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“Today was so and so: we are struggling to make the bike turn like we wish and this makes us slower than usual. Overall I feel quite good on the bike, though, even though there are two/three things to be fixed – which we’re already addressing, so we’ll be ready for tomorrow. I hope for good weather: this is my home GP and we wish to see a lot of people on the grandstands. Tomorrow we will focus on the second and third sectors, as I’m struggling under braking there – this will be our focus.”
