TEAM DEL CONCA HARD AT WORK ON OPENING DAY IN AUSTIN
The first day of action for the Moto3 World Championship was contested today at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas under good weather conditions, with Team Del Conca Gresini duo of Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio hard at work in order to get ready for the qualifying session of the season’s third GP.
With two podium finishes out of two races, Jorge Martin’s goal is to keep the momentum going before returning on home soil. The young Spaniard and his crew spent most of today’s track time trying to work on the bike behaviour under braking, which is the key area to improve to challenge for top honours on Sunday. Martin finished the day in fifth place courtesy of a 2’17.617 secs lap-time.
Fabio Di Giannantonio is aiming to turn his luck around in Texas after two difficult races in Qatar and Argentina. The 18-year-old Italian rider completed more than 20 laps today as he tried to get up to speed on board his Honda machine and improve his feeling with the bike. “Diggia” was 17th in the combined times of today’s two free practice sessions.
The on-track action for the Grand Prix of Americas will resume tomorrow with free practice 3 and qualifying, scheduled to get underway at 9:00 and 12:35 local time (GMT -5).

“It hasn’t been the easiest of days and I have to say that this track has never been too kind to me. I lapped as much as I could and we made a step forward between the two sessions, although we’re still not where we’d like to be. I hope we’ll be able to improve some more tomorrow.
17º – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21
“Today was so and so. I was riding alone most of the time and I could not take advantage of slipstream which on this circuit are really important. We still have some problems to the front end of the bike which moves a lot and that did not aloud me to push 100%. We will keep working on that tomorrow and we hope we can get a good qualifying”.
