TEAM DEL CONCA GRESINI BACK TO ACTION AT VALENCIA
The title chase of Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 has resumed today at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo Circuit, where Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio have completed the second of three days of testing – at the same track which hosted the season finale last November.
After an opening day that worked out only to reunite riders and team under the same roof – given the torrential rain – today both standard bearers to start working on the 2018 version of the Honda NSF250RW.
Jorge Martin and his crew turned their attention mainly on the engine as the youngster from Spain completed 27 laps with a personal best time of 1’40.333; Di Giannantonio was slightly more active than his team mate as he focused more on the chassis side of the bike. Both sides of the garage were eager to get back to work and leave the winter break behind.
With the hope to encounter favourable weather conditions, the riders will tackle tomorrow the final day of action for this first test of the year with the goal to ride as much as possible.
JORGE MARTIN #88
“I was obviously very happy to get back on the bike in this first day of riding, as it was almost three months since I last rode the NSF250RW. We worked right from the start on the new engine and I have to say that it feels good, although we need to do some more laps in order to get the feeling back. It was important to start the right way and we did get some good indications. We will continue working tomorrow in order to get the confidence back with our Honda machine.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21
“Yesterday was a wasted day, basically, and so it was this morning’s session. This afternoon however things started to get serious. We started things off with a setup we already tried during last year’s test at Valencia: it wasn’t too bad back then, hence the choice to start with it. We obviously had some small issues – which were to be expected – but today we had to shake some rust off. The goal is to gather as much data as possible without thinking too much about lap-times and performance. We will continue the same way tomorrow, hoping the sun will shine!”
