TEAM DEL CONCA GRESINI READY FOR HOME RACE AT MISANO

The 2017 edition of the San Marino Grand Prix is right around the corner, with Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 hoping to shine in front of their home crowd in what will be the thirteenth event of the 2017 Moto3 World Championship.

Jorge Martin is looking forward to getting back on track after the bittersweet podium finish taken at Silverstone – which was achieved despite the painful right ankle. With the private test performed last May at Misano, however, the team has an even greater amount of data available for this event and Martin is feeling confident of his chances for a great result, given the excellent feeling found with his Honda NSF250RW back then on the Italian track.

Fabio Di Giannantonio is eager to race in front to the Italian crowd again after narrowly missing on what would have been his maiden world championship race win at Mugello at the end of May. The Rome-born 18-year-old rider, who now lives in Misano Adriatico and very close to the track itself, is anxious to make up for the unfortunate 10th place finish of the UK race.

Home races always come with extra commitment for the local fans: this is why Martin and Di Giannantonio will take part in a parade that will start in Borgo Maggiore’s Piazza Mercatali and end in Piazza Libertà at San Marino.

JORGE MARTIN #88

“I’m going to Misano with the confidence to do well, although I never enjoyed great results there so far. We had a very encouraging test some months ago: I felt very comfortable on the Honda and set some decent lap-times, while also finding a good pace with used tyres. The foot is still not 100%, we’re recovering slower than expected but after the near win at Silverstone things are looking good for this round.”
