TEAM DEL CONCA GRESINI DOES NOT SHINE IN QUALIFYING AT BURIRAM
It was not the typical day at the office for Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3, who have been accustomed to a very different type of results in qualifying. For the third time in fifteen races this year, there will be no standard bearer of the Italian team on the front row of the Moto3 grid.
This outcome is especially surprising because Fabio Di Giannantonio was the leading protagonist of the morning’s free practice as he set the fastest time and topping the combined classification of the three FP sessions. His 1’42.440secs lap-time would have granted him the second spot on the grid had it been logged in qualifying. On the other side of the garage, Jorge Martin would have been part of the battle for pole position without an annoying issue in one of his arms.
The Spaniard suffered greatly due to a tendon inflammation in his right arm, which didn’t allow him to open his hand during today’s session. With the issue due to disappear soon – could be a matter of hours or days – Martin hopes to be 100% for tomorrow’s #ThaiGP race, which gets underway at 11:00 local time (GMT +7).

“Things went really well this morning and we were extremely fast, but unfortunately I was unable to find even a single slipstream in qualifying – which was crucial. We are only ninth on the grid, but we’re ready. I think we can have fun tomorrow and aim at a good result.”

“It’s been a complicated day. Yesterday the clinica touched a nerve that shouldn’t have been touched. I cannot open my hand now meaning I can’t change gears the way I’d like to. If the situation does not improve I might even have to sit out the race so we’ll see. The bike is ready, but right now I cannot ride the way I’d like.”
