A POSITIVE FRIDAY FOR TEAM DEL CONCA GRESINI AT MOTEGI
The first day of action at Twin Ring Motegi for Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 offered chances to work on every time of condition across the two free practice sessions of round 16 of the 2018 Moto3 World Championship – the #JapaneseGP.
A FP1 held on dry track and a wet but drying up – in the final stages – FP2 have put Jorge Martinand Fabio Di Giannantonio’s abilities to test. The young Spaniard focused his efforts on finding the right feeling with his bike whilst testing the condition of his apparently fully recovered hand – Martin will try a new glove tomorrow.
Di Giannantonio did well on the dry and even better in wet conditions – by setting the second-fastest time of the day in 2’05.532. With rain expected tomorrow, Moto3 action will resume tomorrow morning at 9:00 local time (GMT+9) for FP3, while at 12:35 qualifying will get underway.

“It was a positive day: I was immediately comfortable on the bike in dry conditions. We basically worked only with used tyres and focused on our race pace rather than on the single lap and I must say we have a very clear picture. In the afternoon we worked on the wet set-up and there’s something still to be improved there. I must say that given it was Friday I chose not to take any unnecessary risk, so I know there is still room for improvement. If it rains tomorrow we know where we need to work, while in the dry we only have to continue preparing for the race on Sunday.”

“I’m extremely happy with the work done today. This morning – even though lap-times don’t show it, we worked very well and the feeling with the bike is already very good. In the afternoon we were strong in wet conditions but also with the drying track at the end. We are charged up, the atmosphere is the right one and we’re ready for tomorrow, however the conditions will be like.”
