LOWES STARTS ON RIGHT FOOT AT SILVERSTONE
At his home track – Silverstone – Sam Lowes begins the British Grand Prix with a very good performance, as the experienced rider from Lincoln was fifth in the combined times of today’s two free practice session courtesy of a 2’05.321secs lap-time, which was set in the hot and sunny second session.
The rider of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 made some good progress between FP1 and FP2 – while improving of over a second the morning time – and also completed a 14-lap long run in the afternoon with soft tyres. Lowes experienced great feeling with used tyres, which bodes well for it being the final choice for a race that is going to be only four laps longer.
With the access to Q2 almost a formality, Sam Lowes gets ready to tackle what is going to be a very important Saturday – in which he hopes to qualify on the front row.
5th– SAM LOWES #22
“It’s been a positive day. This morning the bike was not perfect, but we worked in the right direction and in the afternoon things changed quite a lot. We will make some small adjustments tomorrow as there is only to improve the engine brake in the last 20 metres and finding a bit more stability while changing direction especially in the first split, in turns seven and eight and in the last corner, where the bike moves a little bit too much if you get in too aggressive. I’m also happy with the tyres, as with the long run we realised that the soft option – which is not that soft – could be the one to go with for the race.”
