BULEGA AND DIGGIA CHARGED UP FOR THE TWO OPENING ROUNDS IN QATAR

The last preseason test has drawn to a close yesterday for the Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Team with Nicolò Bulega and Fabio Di Giannantonio hard at work to prepare for the two opening Grand Prix of the season taking place at Losail in the next two weekends.

Nicolò Bulega was on great form as he placed himself towards the top of the timesheets from the start of the test, and then finished in seventh place only 0.320secs away from Sam Lowes’s top time. The #11 Italian rider was able to find some continuity of performance which he lacked in the previous tests, and now aims at being among the protagonists of the #QatarGP.

Fabio Di Giannantonio also had a positive showing as he made the most of this three-day test to keep gelling with the new bike (Kalex9 and to improve the synergy with his crew. His 18th can be misleading, as the #21 rider was only eight tenths of a second away from the leaders.

The two standard bearers of the Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Team will be back on track already this Friday, with the first free practice sessions getting underway at 14:45 local time (GMT +3).

7th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (1’58.975)

“I must say that Friday was the first smooth test day. Things went as good as they should have, which is something that hadn’t happened in quite a while, and the results showed it: despite the small number of laps of this preseason, the bike was already competitive – which is a sign that we have a good base set-up. On Saturday I lost a little bit of confidence due also to a faulty tyre. Overall these have been positive days and we are improving as a team. We already have some ideas to further improve in the upcoming weekends. We can’t wait to race.”

18th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 (1’59.521)

“I’m half satisfied with these test as we still need to raise the bar quite a bit. We need a step forward and this needs time. Probably these first two GPs will help us get closer to the front. We started off well on day one as we got better and improved our times. We’re understanding the bike together and the results are showing little by little. We lost a bit of time also due to the weather on day two: we made the most of only one session, but the things we tried did not help us improve. In any case, these three days have been important, now we’re going to take every race as it comes in order to get to know the bike better. We’ll be among the protagonists.”
