GOOD DEBUT FOR ALCOBA IN AUSTRIA WHILE ROSSI AIMS HIGH

It was a learning day for the two standard bearers of Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3, who made their debut at the Red Bull Ring in today’s two Free Practice session: if Riccardo Rossi it was the first time at the track, for Jeremy Alcoba it was the maiden experience with the Faenza-based team.

The Spanish rider #52, who is currently replacing the injured Gabriel Rodrigo in the 11thevent of the 2019 Moto3 World Championship, had a very interesting day as he finished 27th– with a personal-best lap-time of 1’38.102secs after riding mostly with used tyres. With new tyre, the current CEV Moto3 rider will aim at surprising in FP3.

Riccardo Rossi, who started off well this morning, could not improve his lap-time in the afternoon and had to settle for a 1’38.184secs that put him just behind his teammate.

27th– JEREMY ALCOBA #52

“It’s all different to what I was used this year, but step by step we are finding the best feeling with bike and track. With the team it was incredible from the get-go. We did a lot of laps and in the second session I came back with used tyres and thanks to a good slipstream we did a decent time. With new tyres we probably could have been in the top-15 and I hope we’ll manage to do so already from tomorrow. We are taking it steadily while trying to improve in each session and tomorrow we’ll see where we are.”

28th– RICCARDO ROSSI #54

“In the first session we simply focused on learning the track as it’s my first time here with a Moto3. During FP2, with new bike and a lot of traffic, we didn’t do the best that we could. It will be important to improve the set-up in some corners where I don’t feel 100%, but we can be very quick.”
