GOOD RESTART AFTER HOLIDAY FOR TEAM GRESINI MOTOGP AT SILVERSTONE

The second part of the 2022 season – a very long one – has officially begun with the first free practice sessions for the #BritishGP at Silverstone. Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio were eager to get back into action and used FP1 to get back in the swing of things aboard their light blue liveried Ducati machines #23 and #49.

Enea Bastianini finished the day in eighth place, four tenths shy of Quartararo’s provisional pole, while trying the new rear-end wings which received a first positive evaluation. Fabio Di Giannantonio had a bit more of a challenging time ‘back to school’ as he finished 17th and six tenths away from his teammate and from the top ten, which will grant direct access to Q2.

8th – ENEA BASTIANINI (1’59.358s)

“It was very exciting to be back aboard the bike today, I was really eager to do so and as a first day, I cannot complain. The first session will be needed to shake some rust off, but overall we went really well, especially in the afternoon’s time attack. There’s a lot to work on still, but we’re starting from a good base compared to how we finish the first part of the season. The new aerodynamics seem to be helping under braking, even though we have to go through the data before drawing conclusions.”

17th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO (1’59.986s)

“Honestly speaking I was hoping for a better start, but this morning I really struggling a lot feeling-wise with the bike. We worked a lot and did well, but we’re far from where we want to be, especially with medium tyres. Time-attack wise we showed some good stuff, but we need to improve a bit everywhere and especially in sector two.”
