DIGGIA MISSES OUT ON POLE AS MARTIN UNDERGOES SURGERY
Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 has had a successful day on two fronts, with Fabio Di Giannantonio defending the team’s colour on track at Brno and Jorge Martin undergoing surgery to his left wrist.
The operation – which lasted slightly more than one hour – was performed by Dr. Xavier Mir at Barcelona’s Dexeus Clinic this morning. Medical report spoke of a “transverse intra articular left distal radius fracture, reduced and fixed with a plate and seven screws. A biomechanical stability radiological test was performed to evaluate the bone stability. He will remain hospitalised for 24 hours with a new check to take place in three days”. On Tuesday, we will know more about the chances of seeing Jorge back on the bike in Austria.
But let’s go back to action and to Fabio Di Giannantonio, who really came close to what would have been his maiden pole position, showing great pace and speed on the Brno track. His late return to the track in the final stages did not allow him to get one last chance for pole before the chequered flag was deployed.
The tenth Moto3 race of the season will get underway at 11:00 local time (GMT +2).
5th– FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21
“It’s been a strange qualifying session and I truly thought we all took the chequered flag, but we were upset in the end. Too bad, because we were working well during the weekend and pole position was within reach. In any case, we are super ready for tomorrow, even though it would have been better to start at the very front as due to my body I tend to lose lose a bit in the uphill sections.”
