DISAPPOINTING OUTCOME FOR TEAM KÖMMERLING GRESINI IN THE HEAT OF MONTMELÓ
History repeats itself and although with different details, the result is the same. Just like at Mugello, Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 comes out empty-handed after setting the pace throughout the whole weekend.
A mistake by Gabri Rodrigo during the penultimate lap of the #CatalanGPtakes away all the chances to battle for a win that once again looked within reach. What probably was a a little bit too aggressive of a manoeuvre on corner entry ended up with a collision with an off-line Binder, taking away all hopes for a strong race result.
It was without a doubt a very difficult Grand Prix for Riccardo Rossi.Yesterday’s crash surely did not help the Italian, who found himself out of energy after a few laps. The number 54 still put together a good performance and finished 17th – his so-far best result in the series. A better fitness condition would have surely allowed him to get into the top-15.
DNF GABRI RODRIGO #19
“We were all lapping at a slow pace to save our tyres so I chose to stay within the group. I was trying to manage the race but then when with two laps to go I tucked the front I got passed by four or five riders – and suddenly I found myself a lot more distant from the front. I braked like the previous 15 laps, but because I was further back I did not take into account that the rider in front of me would have hit the brakes a bit earlier. It’s a shame because I had all it takes to be on the podium, if not to win!”
17th – RICCARDO ROSSI #54
“Physically speaking it was extremely hard. After only three laps I was already done. It’s a pity because without the crash I could have done very well. At the beginning of the race I was with Fenati and Foggia, who where in the top-10 at the end, so with a better fitness condition I could have done a lot better. We now get into a series of races in which I also have to learn all tracks, but we have to get back to full fitness and do our best.”
