FERRARI 7th IN RACE TWO AT LE MANS

Race2 – #FrenchGP MotoGP’s all-electric category is the one wrapping up the French weekend at the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans. After an encouraging performance in race one yesterday, team FELO Gresini Racing MotoE was aiming even higher in today’s encounter. Unfortunately, the expectations were not met by Matteo Ferrari, who was starting the race once again from seventh place on the grid.

The rider #11 could not improve his performance compared to the first race due to some issues under acceleration, which made it hard for him to attack other riders. Still, he was able to stay in the group of riders battling for the top five. He was seventh at the chequered flag, and he is now ready to make amends in the upcoming round at Mugello.

Alessio Finello showed some more encouraging signs in race two by setting his quickest lap-time of the weekend, and therefore making a further step forward. The Italian rookie #72 was 17th at the finish line, but his learning curve continues and he is now looking forward to racing at Mugello, a track where he has raced previously – unlike MotoE, which will make its debut on the iconic Tuscan track.

7th – MATTEO FERRARI #11

“I’m fairly disappointed with this race. I’m sorry for that because we were unable to improve compared to yesterday. We’re experiencing some issues under acceleration and that’s something we need to fix, because I cannot attack my opponents. I’m really sorry also for the fact that we were with the leading group, but we couldn’t play our cards right. We will work hard to get to Mugello with the right among of aggression and focus. We’re fourth in the championship and close to third and second place, but we need a further step forward to aim at the podium, which it was not within our reach today. We need to understand why.”

17th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72

“We made a little step forward; this is why I was able to log my best lap-time of the weekend in today’s race and I was able to keep a consistent pace for the whole encounter. It wasn’t enough, though, as there’s a lot more work to do. The goal is to fight within the group, but I know I need to be patient; we need more time and work, but with the right consistency we’ll get there. We will now focus on the next race at Mugello. It is my home race and I know the track, which gives me plenty of motivation. We will keep training and working hard because I want to reach the goals we set with the team: I’m sure we’ll get there.”
