FERRARI ON ROW TWO IN JEREZ QUALIFYING

Qualifying – #SpanishGP The opening racing weekend of the season started off under difficult conditions for team FELO Gresini Racing MotoE due to yesterday’s torrential rain. The opening session was held under mostly dry conditions despite some damp patches, meaning it was FP2 to really decide the group of riders entering Q2 from the main door: Matteo Ferrari did it courtesy of the third-quickest time in the combined classification of the two Free Practice sessions and as the qualifying session drew to a close, he claimed the sixth spot of the grid for the two races, taking place on Saturday and Sunday. The 2019 world cup champion could have finished even closer to the front of the grid, but a yellow flag situation prevented him from further improving his personal best lap-time.

Alessio Finello, on the other hand, managed to make a step forward lap-time wise in Q1. The new arrival in the all-electric series finished qualifying in seventeenth place. The Turin-born rider is improving in each outing and will try tomorrow to stay with the opponents and make up some positions.

6th – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’48.783)

“Qualifying was harder compared to FP2, but we still managed to qualifying within the first two rows. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to put together the right lap as I could have been quicker in some sectors, but that was also due to a yellow flag situation that took my chances away. We managed to gather some valuable data ahead of tomorrow’s race, as temperatures will likely be similar to the ones we encountered in Q2. Generally speaking I’m happy with the work we’ve done so far and for the fact that I was able to get a direct seed to Q2: we’re ready to battle with the other top riders tomorrow and to score important points!”

17th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (1’50.153)

“Being the first qualifying on the world stage, I can’t really complain even though my goal was to lap in the 1’49secs and be closer to my opponents. I’m happy that we’re improving session after session, though, and this is by far the most important thing for me at the moment. My maiden race in the series will be tomorrow, and the goal is to stay with the group and keep their pace until the end.”
