GONZALEZ FOURTH IN MUGELLO QUALIFYING
Manuel Gonzalez has put together another positive Saturday: after earning the direct seed to Q2 in the second practice session, he missed out on a front-row qualifying by one tenth after carrying out the time attack on his own and logging a 1’50.248 lap-time. He will start tomorrow’s race from fourth place on the grid, with a podium finish as his target here at Mugello.
Things went the opposite way for Albert Arenas, as the rider #75 has not managed to far to find the right feeling with this track. After being forced to partake in Q1, he could not finish higher than 24th with a lap-time of 1’51.186. He will need a good start tomorrow to turn things around in the 19-lap Moto2 encounter for the Italian Grand Prix.
4th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18 (1’50.248)
“I’m quite happy with today: we really improved the bike from yesterday and we’re back to the bike that we knew, which is strong at every circuit, and I felt good straight away. I managed to set a great lap in Practice2, but we knew it’d have been more difficult in qualifying. I tried to adapt to the different conditions of the afternoon, but the front was sliding a bit more. I still did a good qualifying on my own and lapped quite fast: we can battle for the podium in tomorrow’s race.”
24th – ALBERT ARENAS #75 (1’51.186)
“Today was a tough day, the toughest this year so far. Unfortunately, we couldn’t improve the feeling from yesterday as I was feeling some vibration that didn’t allow me to ride at my best. We tried to make some changes, but we still have some work to do ahead of tomorrow. We’ll try to have a good start, we have tried it already and the feeling is good here, then let’s see what we can do.”
