NAVARRO LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK AFTER CHALLENGING QUALIFYING

Jorge Navarro and team Federal Oil Gresini have endured a challenging second day of action at ‘Circuito de Jerez’ today, which saw the 21-year-old Spanish rider only 21st at the end of qualifying after the good performances shown track in all three free practice sessions around the 4.4km Andalusian track.
Navarro was hoping to build on the 1’43.027secs lap-time set during FP3 – which if equalled in QP it would have given him a spot on the fourth row of the grid – but a crash at turn six with 15 minutes to go put an early end to his attempts for a good qualifying. Jorge was one of the many riders to fall victim of the greasy and slippery track surface encountered this afternoon at Jerez.
The Valencian rider is now looking forward to a good start to the race, which is set to get underway at 12:20 local time (GMT +2).
21st – JORGE NAVARRO #9
“We were having a good weekend prior to qualifying, but this afternoon track conditions changed quite a lot and I did not have the same feeling with the bike. I couldn’t trust the front the same way I did before. I could have improved my time on the first outing already but there was a lot of traffic on the track, which slowed me down. Then track conditions got worse and nobody was able to improve. If that wasn’t enough I also crashed out – unhurt – and that cost us a lot of precious time. We’re obviously not happy, but we need to stay focused and look forward to tomorrow.”
