#JEREZTEST: BASTIANINI AMONG THE QUICKEST RIDERS, DIGGIA LEARNS QUICKLY
As expected, the wind was the true protagonist of the second and final day of testing at Jerez de la Frontera, which was the first opportunity to see the new Team Gresini Racing MotoGP in action ahead of the 2022 season.
With only 25 laps completed, Enea Bastianini set the eighth fastest time of today, albeit wrapping up the test as fourth-fastest courtesy of yesterday’s lap-time. Only good news came for the number 23, who claimed to be “at ease” on the bike despite the strong winds – as shown also by his consistent pace.
Fabio Di Giannantonio managed to stay out on track a bit longer: the wind did not blow away his desire to ride. The Italian, who has already tried some changes to the electronics, was able to complete 45 laps of the track as he improved by almost a second compared to yesterday (1’38.528secs).
8th – ENEA BASTIANINI #23 (1’37.698 – 25 laps)
“The wind was too strong today so I chose to not throw away the good things we had done. We were always quick, even race-pace wise. We did not turn the set-up around: we only did a few little changes to be even more comfortable on the bike. Ducati’s DNA hasn’t changed, but the bike has improved in all areas. I must admit I was quick even with the wind, which is a condition that doesn’t suit me well.”
19th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49 (1’38.528 – 45 laps)
“First of all we started on the right foot: we took to the track this morning and immediately lapped as quick as yesterday’s best times. This is a positive sign, as it means I’m starting to understand this bike a little. Today we worked a little with the electronics, which is likely to be the key in MotoGP. This is all new for me, but we’re improving the feeling with the bike. Too bad for the wind because it kind of bothered me quite a bit, even though it didn’t take the smile away from our faces.”
