THE SUMMER BREAK IS OVER: IT’S TIME TO RACE IN AUSTRIA
Race Preview – #AustrianGP It has been a really long summer break for the FELO Gresini Racing MotoE riders, who have not ridden their Energica bikes since the Assen GP. It will be a tough weekend with a new track’s layout and only two free practice sessions to study it, in order to be ready for the qualifying and the two races of six laps each.
We find Matteo Ferrari in third position in the world ranking with 112.5 points: 45.5 separate him from the top of the world championship ranking and there are only 4 races left, two of these already this weekend at the Red Bull Ring, one on Saturday and the second one on Sunday. The main goal of the rider number #11 will be precisely to close the gap from the riders who precede him in the world ranking.
The motivation is up to the stars also for Alessio Finello, who can’t wait to ride his bike on the Austrian circuit for the first time: it will be essential for him to learn the right trajectories quickly so he can also dedicate to the setup of his Energica number #72 and continue his growth during his first season in the MotoE World Championship.
The FELO Gresini Racing MotoE riders will hit the track for the first session on Friday at 08:25 (GMT +2)
MATTEO FERRARI #11 (3rd in the championship standings with 112,5 points)
“It was a really long summer break! I have always kept training, not just at the gym but also on track, competing in the CIV (Italian Championship), to be at 100% in this second part of the season: there are only two rounds left for a total of four races: it will be tough, but we are still fighting to conquer the world championship and I want to try until the end. We are ready for Austria, I like this track even if the new chicane will be tough for the MotoE which is very heavy. Let’s hope it doesn’t rain, fingers crossed for the weather which is often unknown in Austria. We are ready to fight!”
ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (18th in the championship standings with 9 points)
“We are finally back to racing, after a month and a half of break that seemed like a whole year to me. I was really missing races, the adrenaline. After a week of holidays in which I tried to rest and have fun, I started training again, both at the gym and on the bike, to be ready for this second part of the championship. The new layout of the Red Bull Ring could be a little advantage for me: I have never raced on this track, but in this case the other riders will also try the new chicane for the first time and will have to readjust. We will try to learn the track quickly and be fast from the first session. The goal of these last four races is to take another step forward: we are working well, we have grown race after race and we want to continue on this path to finish this championship in a great way.”
