MARTIN AND DIGGIA START ON RIGHT FOOT IN GERMANY

It was a positive Friday for Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3at Sachsenring – the venue hosting the ninth event of the 2018 MotoGP season – with JorgeMartinthird and only a few thousandths of a second away from the top and Fabio Di Giannantoniowithin the top-10 and half of a second shy of provisional pole position.

In a day that saw track conditions changing more than once, especially regarding temperatures, the Spanish rider #88 has always been quick – the quickest in FP1 – as he already displayed a good pace with used tyres.

After struggling in the third split this morning, Di Giannantonioworked hard with the team with the goal to find back the right feeling with the bike. His tenth-quickest time, which was set with used tyres, is a boost of confidence ahead of qualifying – which will begin at 13:10 local time.

3rd– JORGE MARTIN

“It has been quite a positive day on a track that has always been kind to me. Our set-up is really good, but we still need to evaluate better our choices regarding tyres: the left turns end up wearing tyres out pretty quickly. We tried two different combinations and we were quick with both, so the final choice will be race-oriented. Right now the pace is stuck in the 1’27.5s with used tyres, but I’m confident tomorrow we can be a couple of tenths quicker.”

10th– FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO

“We were a bit worried this morning because we tried many things on the bike, but the feeling wasn’t there. Things went a lot better in the afternoon. We did a great job and we were back having fun on the bike. With fresh tyres we might have done a bit better, but the traffic did not allow us to be a little bit higher up in the timesheets. We still have room for improvement and we’ll make the most of it tomorrow.”
