SAM LOWES ALSO ON FRONT ROW IN TEXAS

Following on the footsteps of his teammate Gabriel Rodrigo, Sam Lowes also clinched the front row of the grid for the #AmericasGP and will start the third race of the Moto2 season from third place on the grid. Unlike Moto3, the qualifying session for the middleweight class of MotoGP was held under full-dry conditions, after a rainstorm made impossible for FP3 to actually take place.

Despite the conditions were all in all very similar to yesterday, the standard bearer of Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Team had a difficult time in getting up to speed in the 15 minutes of track time available – he already gained access to Q2 after Free Practice 2. The Briton did not disappoint, though, as he logged a 2’11.123secs lap time as he clinched his fourth front row start in five editions at this track – the second in a row after the one claimed at Termas de Rio Hondo.

The charge to the first race win of the year will begin for Sam Lowes from 12:20 local time (GMT-5).

3rd– SAM LOWES #22

“It wasn’t an easy day given the lack of track time following the cancellation of FP3. We wanted to continue working on our race pace but I must say that the base set-up found yesterday is good so I’m ready to battle for the win tomorrow. It was really important to get on the front row at this track, but with a quick qualifying session and a bit of wind it wasn’t easy to achieve. We are ready and I cannot wait for tomorrow.”
